1980-1989

In the 1980s Helmer-Petersen continued to work on architectural and urban industrial studies. He created a series of abstract light drawings from Tivoli in Copenhagen (photographs made by moving the camera with a long shutter speed). He studied patterns, light and colour in close-ups of plants and trees.

He helped found the first museum for photography in Denmark, Museet for Fotokunst, in Odense in 1987.
